Abstract:The traditional waste methods of rectangular and fan-shaped arrangements applied to irregular-shaped waste dump result in multiple relocation operations. In order to enhance the efficiency of dumping machines operations and reduce rock dumping costs, this paper takes a specific waste dump at Panzhihua Xinbaima Iron Mine as an example. Starting from the characteristics of the waste dump's morphology, it proposes a new approach of forward embankment for dumping machines bidirectional dumping is proposed. A comprehensive comparison is made between the new and old dumping methods in terms of single dumping volume, number of relocations, and operational costs, thereby validating the superiority of the forward embankment for dumping machines bidirectional dumping for narrow and elongated waste dump. According to the characteristics of the displacement of waste dump, this paper proposed a bidirectional dumping process for overfill embankment with dumping machines, and analyzed the advantages of single dumping volume, displacement times and operation cost of the process. It provided an alternative to the traditional dumping method for waste dump.
