Abstract:Adding a certain proportion of iron concentrate powder to sintering mixtures will lead to a significant increase in the proportion of adhering fines in the mixtures, thereby deteriorating the permeability of the sintering bed and ultimately affecting the output and quality of the sinter. In order to avoid the deterioration of bed permeability caused by the addition of iron concentrate powder, the balling property of the mixture can be improved by optimizing process parameters, thereby enhancing the permeability of the sintering bed. Based on this,in this paper, through determining the balling property index of iron concentrate powder and further studying the characteristics of the iron concentrate powder with different particle sizes as well as the change rule in balling property under different ratios of quicklime and water, the measures to enhance the balling property of iron concentrate powder are explored and the permeability of the mixture bed is finally improved. The study results show that for the four types of iron concentrate powder, improving their particle size distribution characteristics, adjusting the proportion of quicklime, and optimizing the water addition amount can effectively enhance their self-balling properties, increase their drop strength, compressive strength, and bursting temperature. Methods for improving the balling characteristics of iron concentrate powder are as follows: When the grinding fineness of OA iron concentrate powder is less than 0.2 mm,the suitable proportion of quicklime is 9.0%, and the water addition amount is 9.0%. When the grinding fineness of OB iron concentrate powder is less than 0.1 mm, the suitable proportion of quicklime is 10. 0%,and the water addition amount is 9. 0%. When the grinding fineness of OC iron concentrate powder is less than 0.2 mm,the suitable proportion of quicklime is 8. 0%, and the water addition amount is 7. 0%. When the grinding fineness of OD iron concentrate powder is less than 0.2 mm, the suitable proportion of quicklime is 9.0%, and the water addition amount is 9.0%. The findings of this paper can provide a technical basis for improving the balling performance of iron concentrate powder.
